Nigerian track and field star Tobi Amusan has been named the country's flagbearer for the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
This historic moment marks the first time in two decades that a track and field athlete has received this prestigious honor.
The announcement was made on social media by Making of Champions, highlighting that Amusan is the first athlete from athletics since Mary Onyali at the Athens 2004 Games to hold this distinction.
Amusan, a world record holder in the 100m hurdles, will proudly lead the Nigerian contingent during the parade of nations at the opening ceremony.
This recognition celebrates her exceptional achievements and solidifies her status as one of Nigeria's most celebrated athletes on the international stage.
