Resident doctors at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, ABUTH, in Zaria have suspended their five-day warning strike a day after it began.
The strike, which started on Monday, was called off early Tuesday morning following successful negotiations with the hospital management.
Dr. Ashiru Mikail, Vice President of the Nigeria Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, announced the suspension to journalists in Zaria, Kaduna State.
According to sources, the resident doctors resumed their duties at 8 am on Tuesday, following a marathon meeting between NARD and ABUTH management.
The strike was initially launched to protest several issues, including percentage salary payments for members on the GIFMIS platform and non-payment of accoutrement allowances.
