Nigeria has made history at the Paris 2024 Olympics with three athletes qualifying for the women's long jump final.
Ese Brume, Ruth Usoro, and Prestina Ochonogor secured their spots in the final, marking the first time Nigeria has achieved this feat in an individual Olympic event.
Brume, the bronze medalist from Tokyo 2020, led the charge with a jump of 6.76 meters, finishing second in her qualifying group.
Usoro, the African Games triple jump champion, impressed with a 6.68-meter leap, while Ochonogor, the African Games bronze medalist, qualified with a jump of 6.65 meters.
The trio will now compete for a podium finish on Thursday.

Brume, a four-time African champion, is considered Nigeria's top medal hope, but all three athletes have shown the potential to surprise.
This achievement surpasses Nigeria’s previous best in athletics at the Olympics, where two athletes, Falilat Ogunkoya and Fatimat Yusuf, reached the women's 400m final in Atlanta 1996.
The nation is eagerly anticipating a strong performance from its long jump trio.
