JUSTIN: Apex Court upholds Abiodun’s election as Ogun governor

The Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Dapo Abiodun as the second-term governor of Ogun State.

In the judgment delivered on Friday, Tijjani Abubakar, who led the five-member panel, dismissed the appeal filed by Ladi Adebutu, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last elections.

“In the end, this appeal is unmeritorious and deserves to be dismissed.

It is hereby dismissed,” Abubakar held.

Recall that the appellants, Ladi Adebutu and the Peoples Democratic Party prayed the apex court to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct fresh elections in the 99 polling units where elections were allegedly cancelled.
