Manchester United's sporting director, Dan Ashworth, addressed the fans through the club's website, for the first time since his appointment on 1 July and assures that the fortunes of the club will significantly improve after falling shot of expectations last season.
Ashworth comes to the club as the fanbase called for a new hierarchy as the Glazers have been widely condemned for the sporting and business decisions
Ashworth told Manutd.com: "We are all clear that last season fell below the required standards in the Premier League and Champions League but, by winning the FA Cup in such impressive fashion, our players and staff showed what they are capable of when everyone pulls together and performs to their potential.”

“Our collective challenge is to reach those levels much more consistently.

Already, I can feel a strong sense of energy and determination around the group, as the players and staff return fresh from their breaks, including some exciting new additions to the squad, and to the coaching team.
United will begin the 2024/2025 season with a fixture against Fulham on August 16.
