TCN apprehends vandals with stolen Tower Cables

TCN apprehends vandals with stolen Tower Cables

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the arrest of vandals caught in possession of stolen transmission tower cables.

The suspects were apprehended by the police while transporting the stolen items in a blue pickup van.

According to TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah, the incident occurred on August 7 along the Damboa/Maiduguri 132KV transmission line, currently under reconstruction due to a previous vandal attack.

The arrested individuals are currently detained at the Damboa Police Station and will be transferred to the Police Headquarters in Maiduguri for further investigation.

Mbah expressed concern over the increasing cases of vandalism affecting TCN facilities nationwide. Since July 1, multiple attacks have been recorded across different transmission regions.

In addition to the recent incident, vandals also targeted towers T377, T378, and T379 along the Gombe-Damaturu 330kV transmission line on August 11.

This follows a previous attack on towers T193 and T194 on the same line, which resulted in the death of two vandals at the hands of local hunters.

The TCN is currently working to repair the damaged infrastructure and restore power supply to affected areas.
